Mythological Origins (far from complete - this is only a few)
Nezhog - the japanese Nozuchi. Described as a massive, pale (usually white) snake-like or worm-like creature with a huge, toothy maw. Sometimes the mouth is its only feature at all. Despite a fierce appearance, however, the Nozuchi is generally harmless.

Namtar - Namtar is a minor god of the Sumerian underworld. He is serves as messenger under Ereshkigal, the underworld queen, and he is responsible for all disease and pestilence afflicting mortals.

Razor - a sickle weasel (japanese youkai)

Scylla - greek mythology. A beautiful sea nymph transformed by a foul potion. Her lower body consists of multiple vicious, monstrous dogs that she cannot control.

Zebul - my favorite! This monster is based on a centuries-old illustration of the demon Beelzebub.
