do you ever wonder what happens to your old teeth?
when you are little and you hide your fallen out teeth for the tooth fairy to find
or when you're old and you've just had a root canal
whatever happens to your old teeth?
maybe they're still around somewhere after they've been thrown out
sad, cold, hungry
they huddle together to find comfort in each other
and they look for you hoping to find what they've once lost
hiding just out of sight
everywhere yet nowhere at the same time
pearly white, rancid yellow, rotten black
they're all there, all hiding
they talk about you in hushed tones
thinking of ways to take back what once was theirs
clicking together in the walls
tapping their broken roots down the halls
its with them always you've gotta see
the clatter in the night they've always been
