Bogleech.com's 2018 Horror Write-off:
Little Thing
Submitted by Ozaenin
I ask the little thing, with their skin so pale, pale as the moon on a black as coal night, pale as an eggshell not yet shattered, pale as the bones sticking out of the tar, How did I get here?
I don't know says the little thing.
I ask the little thing, with their ears upright, twin color like the sunset and the sunrise, little bells singing when they twitch, seeping with the new blood curdling already, Where is this?
A place that doesn't matter says the little thing.
I ask the little thing, with it's little claws, fidgeting and winding between each other as worms in the dirt, ridges on soft pads that touch places you didn't know you had, soft as silk and sharp as steel, How do I leave?
By walking away says the little thing.
I ask the little thing, with its teeth sharper than regrets sticking into the mind, thick as a thumb stuck on a fishhook, digging into gums just so to pull out the honey, Am I allowed to leave?
You wont if you are says the little thing.
I ask the little thing, with it's eyes that blink both ways, murky black like the space between stars, Pinpoint of white that see what the flesh forgets, Are you keeping me here?
You wanted to be here says the little thing.
I ask the little thing, with it's tail flickering along like a rat caught on a movie screen, thin as a cable wire with spirals along, An ending with a club thick and gnarled as tree bark, Do you know why?
Because the other place is boring says the little thing.
I ask the little thing, with it's coat variegated, A thousand colors shifting hues like a chameleon excited, sleeves hiding joys and toys and sadness and fear, Where do I go?
Don't go away says the little thing.
I have been nice says the little thing.
Don't leave me says the little thing.
I'm trapped here says the little thing.
I want to go home says the little thing.
Take me with you says the little thing.
I'm so lonely says the little thing.
The little thing asks me, while I am still here, eyes it wants to keep, last company for a while, Will I die if you leave?
I don't know little thing.
Little thing.
