Bogleech.com's 2018 Horror Write-off:
The Life I Thought I Had
Submitted by Jenne Kaivo
There's a night the moon went red
in a life I thought I had.
There were bad things that I did,
nights spent hiding in the mud,
or waking on a cold black bed
and calling on an absent god.
There were cracks to stubborn head,
drags I drug through boggy reed.
There were places I was lead
down a dark and hidden road.
There were signs I would not heed.
There's a marsh where old friends bide
from the life I thought I made;
wrapped up in cloth, all rough and rude
lying still where they were bade.
in a life I thought I had.
