“Oh Luckless am I, Once the King of All the World”

“I beat a girl, then things went to shit”

“Her friends took who I was, and changed all of it”

“Now I’m here a mangled mess, with nothing left”

I stared at myself in the mirror.

So, that curse was real. Shit.

I was originally 4’10”, now I was about 6’11. 

Only good thing I’d probably get out of this.

Had to run away from home. 

My Mom would prolly murder me, 

if I didn’t look like she expects her ‘good boy’ to look

I got a job, at a welding shop

Carrying things around

Learning to weld

My body burns.

My arms tear off.

Boss gives me a stare.

‘What and how the hell?’ he asks.

I shake.

I tremble.

I mutter under my breath about the welding thingy being too hot.

But I don’t cry. 

I definitely don’t cry.

O.K. so I cried.

I’m hopeless

I’m stupid

That’s what they all think of me.

They all are right.

But I live.

My prosthetics work perfectly, 

I don’t remember my old name,

My new name is Maxie,

I’m as free as a bird.

I’m sorry but you can’t change what happened in the past.

2 years ago, I was a horrible person.
