ENTRY 14: THE ONI (Kazan Yamaoka)

"Redefine wrath with The Oni, a truly formidable force. Injured Survivors leave a trail of Blood Orbs, fuelling The Oni’s rage and sending him into a state of fury. Upon unleashing a bloodcurdling roar, The Oni gains the ability to charge with vengeful purpose, instantly cutting down anyone in his way."

LORE SUMMARY: Kazan was a ferociously brutal samurai, widely feared for his unstoppable rage, and it only further infuriated him when he was dubbed an "oni," which he saw as an insult to his nobility. His reputation was only proven when he mistakenly slaughtered his own father, and went on a rampage that only ended when he was at last cornered by a large enough, angry enough mob of villagers.

  This guy's last name should be familiar if you either play the game or you've been reading these in order; he's The Spirit's ancient ancestor! That at least gives more context to a ghost that kills people with a katana. Now transfigured into an undead monster, Kazan permanently wears a snarling red oni mask with a third eye in its forehead and an unkempt mane of long, white hair, a stark contrast to the darker colors of his armor and sword.

  The Oni's gameplay is the most entertaining thing about him, because injured survivors leave a trail of floating "blood orbs" he collects to not only hunt his victims down, but build power until he can unleash his more devastating sword attacks, which means that Kazan Yamaoka is the closest thing we have to Pac-Man< as a Dead by Daylight Killer.

BEST SKIN(S):

"MOUNTAIN HUNT:" A pretty cool tengu-inspired outfit with a long, sharp corvid-beak nose on his mask and even clawed, three-toed feet that imply this is a bit more than a costume swap.

"MINOTAUR:" Every Killer deserves a skin or two remodeling them into some other kind of monster, whether or not it's thematically appropriate, but a minotaur warrior with a sword definitely suits the Oni, not just for the warrior with a sword aspect, but because a Minotaur, too, is a spiritual brother to the great soul-devourer that is Pac-Man.

"NIGHT HUM:" we've seen a few moth-themed skins, and it's great that multiple moth-themed skins are a thing at all in this or any game. They have yet to turn any of the killers into the mothman of cryptozoological fame, but the "Night Hum" armor - really cool name by the way - certainly seems to transform the samurai into "a" moth man, of sorts. We can't see much of the body underneath this otherwise classic looking samurai suit, but there are hairy insect legs protruding from the chest, so yes, to at least some degree, they mothed this man, and a partially mothed man will still always automatically beat any unmothed man, or in fact most unmothed things that you can think of.
