ENTRY 20: THE PLAGUE (Adiris)

"Traditional healing methods are ineffective against The Plague’s vile Purge, which can infect generators and Survivors. Pools of Devotion are the only respite from the spreading pestilence. The more Survivors heal, the stronger The Plague’s power becomes, transforming her Purge into a sickening projectile of pain."

LORE SUMMARY: an ancient Babylonian raised from age five by the cult of Purgation, who worshipped a creator god know only as the sea-goat. She eventually rose to the status of a high priestess, treating victims of a horrible plague through prayer as she appeared especially resistant to the disease. But soon enough, her body began to fester, and every one of her followers contracted the deadly blight with her. Adiris and her following all vanished after she performed one final, desperate ritual to her god, only to be answered by something else.

  This is what the fandom calls Vommy Mommy, and they are right to do so. Adiris is a tall, imposing woman in hauntingly beautiful ceremonial garb who also happens to be visibly (as well as all too realistically) decomposing and can spread her sickness through swampy green, sputtering projectile regurgitant. There's even a horrible swallowing sound clip you can hear if the attack loses its "charge" without being fired. Lovely. She's by far the most unsanitary and disgusting killer thus far, but there's also no denying she can get it.

  She's also extremely, extremely fun to play, at least in my opinion. I think her barf might be the most delightful attack I've tried in the entire game? She upchucks with the physics of a garden hose, a geyser of putrid bile you can arc over obstacles and fling around an impressive distance as you follow another dirty rotten (but soon to be rottener) Dwight or Sable. Anyone hit with your spew gets sick, making them much more vulnerable to physical damage and easier to track. Any interactable objects you yak on also become infectious, and survivors can infect each other! They can cure themselves at fountains placed throughout the map, but then she can drink the infected water and upgrade her regular barf to super (corrupted) barf, which actually damages.

BEST SKIN(S):

"DARK APOSTATE:" love this over-the-top heavy metal look, like something straight out of Warhammer. Wrapped in chains, with blood red robes, a skimpy red and black top, spiky shoulder blades and that vicious looking, spiny iron helmet. Just too badass!

"CAT PREDICTION:" This is, apparently, cat themed. Her entire upper body is in a sagging wrinkly skin suit with various little spines and barbs poking through. Her head is covered in a thin layer of gold scales with yellow, faintly cat-like eyes, and eight hook-tipped fingers sprout out of her skull, joined in fleshy webbing, like a pair of exaggerated hairless cat paws reaching out from behind her head. I'm not sure what the concept is here, exactly, but it's awesome. Here's your closeup:

"DARK DEVOTEE:" I almost overlooked this one, and its palette swap red death, because the outfit doesn't seem all that remarkable - a lot of golden bangles, spiky golden crown and a loosely hanging dirty toga - but up close, this one is absolutely writhing with realistically animated maggots that even constantly tumble off her. GNARLY. If you don't count maggots as clothing, this is also a partially topless skin, but obviously maggots can be clothing.

"SEA GODDESS:" even without a maggot infestation, her nautical skin is the coolest one by far. She's got an awesome looking helmet of eyeless, bony scutes with a halo of branching blue coral and long, sharp spines, slimy green seaweed draped over her face, a scallop shell bikini top with pearl straps, rotten fish fins and fish hide around her waist, barnacles on her arms, fish skeletons hanging of her decanter, scalier skin from the chest down and even four gill slits on her sides. She's a beautiful, vomiting mermaid! A fish tail would have really completed it of course, but then I guess they'd have to replace her legs altogether, and then she'd have to either float around or walk on just the tail fins, which they probably thought would be silly. I think they should let her be silly, but this is still cool either way.

MY SUGGESTIONS:

We are now officially in my top favorite killers; the ones that I actually regularly want to play based on their designs and concepts alone, so for these, I'm going to make cosmetic suggestions their own special section!

A Plant Skin: the hag's Toxic Roots actually would have fit the Plague just as well, so I'd love to see her get something along similar lines. Maybe the head could look like a corpse flower, like Amorphophallus, complete with a cloud of flies?!

Modern Biohazard Wear: what would she look like if she were transplanted from an ancient Babylonian cult, to a far future Radioactive Wasteland cult? An outfit cobbled together from urban trash, an eerie gas mask, maybe a crown made from hypodermic needles and barbed wire?
