THE OTHER "FALCOMON" LINE

CHILD: FALCOMON

Now wait a minute here, THIS isn't "Falcomon!" Falcomon was a bald eagle! I'm not sure why they decided to just give this bird the same name and call it a "subspecies," but it's otherwise different in every way; whereas our other Falcomon was a loosely "Native American" eagle, this one is a ninja owl, and no, neither of those things are falcons, either.

Between the two, I obviously like the spooky owl best. The red around the eyes gives it an especially striking and cool look,

RATING:

ADULT: PECKMON

From a ninja owl to a ninja ostrich - and one that feels like a reference to Naruto, I say as someone only barely familiar with Naruto and primarily through memes. Its wings are apparently lined with metal feathers on the inside that it even throws as tiny daggers, which is pretty cool. An ostrich is a fun choice for a ninja bird and makes a lot of sense!

PERFECT: YATAGARAMON

Like "Falcomon," this is another Digimon that has actually had two variations, and the other one actually came out a little earlier, but we kind of held on to it for this review. Yatagaramon is described as "a bizarre bewitching bird," a demonic yokai-like raven monster with four wings, three legs, and an attack that "reduces the opponent to 0's and 1's." It's a pretty interesting, even frightening monster for this ninja-bird line to turn into, but that older version I mentioned goes even harder:

LOVE those horrifying jaws and the fact that the "beak" was just a golden mask all along! Kind of a shame that they toned down is creepier aspects for the new Falcomon's line. Is that because of this being a heroic digimon? Did digimon really decide that the "good guys" need to be less scary? I certainly hope not.

ULTIMATE: RAVMON

Guess we should have expected another humanoid Ultimate. Why couldn't this one have just switched places with Yatagaramon? It's interesting at least that this man-bird has one natural, black raven wing, and one whiter wing made of metal. That shouldn't really work for flight unless the weight is somehow still symmetrical, but whatever, it's a digital monster.

Ravmon also has a "burst mode" that I also don't particularly care about, except I gotta say, this bird ninja guy sure is busty. That ain't a bad thing, it's just hard not to notice.
