090: ARMOR EVOLUTIONS OF MIRACLES

The last digimental or "digi egg" introduced in the series - but only the second to last that we're reviewing! - isn't tied to any specific digimon, but was created by the Four Holy Beasts and unlocks some of the most powerful armor forms for the six digimon they felt like giving armor forms. Do the designs and concepts live up to that status? Uhhhhhh.....

EGG OF MIRACLES + HAWKMON: PEACOCKMON

I guess this has the vibe of a super-duper bird armor digimon. It's described as having "laser shaped wings," one of the most charmingly nonsense phrases we've heard yet, and a really awkward way of saying its feathers are made out of light.

RATING:

EGG OF MIRACLES + ARMADILLOMON: ELEPHAMON

This is kind of a fun one because I guess it's based on Dumbo, but it's a killer mechadumbo with hover blades for ears, or whatever you call those things.

RATING:

EGG OF MIRACLES + PATAMON: RHINOMON

No theme here so far, except I guess some of these are going to be gaudier than other armors. Rhinomon's not bad for what it is, basically a rhinoceros in special rhinoceros knight armor, plated with gold and silver.

RATING:

EGG OF MIRACLES + GATOMON: MAILDRAMON

Nice to see Gatomon getting, in my honest opinion, the coolest looking thing on this page. Sure, it's just a dinosaur dragon in knight armor, but there's something about that specific beaky helmet that I really love. Pointed knight helmets with those grill-style visors are always really neat to me, kind of giving off a weird, emotionless bird-head vibe?

RATING:

EGG OF MIRACLES + WORMMON: KONGOUMON

I'm also glad Wormmon gets another insect-like evolution here, and it's not too shabby. It at least has a cute little beetle mouth instead of a cartoon dinosaur-man mouth, and a round fat beetle is always a good beetle. It's supposedly based both on sumo wrestling and the Vajra for whatever reason. I feel like they really could have just made this an Egyptian scarab beetle and had a slightly more solid concept.
