THE STRABIMON FAMILY
CHILD: STRABIMON
Our main hero took after the Greymon line, so of course our second one takes after Garurumon. Would you believe I actually kinda like this one though? At least this depiction of it, anyway, which really emphasizes that it's a grizzled, long-clawed werewolf-kid. That is a perfectly acceptable digimonster.

HUMAN/ADULT: WOLFMON
Unfortunately, the grizzled werewolf thing is lost completely when Strabimon evolves into what is honestly one of my least favorite digihuman designs yet. It's even less exciting than Agnimon, who at least had that Dragonball Z rocker hair.

BEAST/PERFECT: GARUMMON
The next stage or beast form (depending on the context) reverts to a quadruped, but somehow manages to be even worse, because it's functionally nothing but a reskinning of the higher level and more classic Metalgarurumon. An ugly reskinning. It's still my least favorite of Garurumon's original forms, but Metalgarurumon actually now looks significantly better to me in retrospect.

ULTIMATE: BEOWULFMON
And then our final form, or human/beast fusion, is just Wolfmon in slightly different armor. I know I said I wanted to be fair to these digimon, but I am simply not inspired.

HYBRID: MAGNAGARURUMON
So the wolf guy and yesterday's not-really-dinosaur guy can morph together into a robot airplane wolf.
Yeah...okay. It's different and fresh anyway. Pretending for a moment that I'm the kind of person who really wants a robot airplane wolf, I suppose this is a "suitable" robot airplane wolf, but when you actually put those words together my mind still goes to more interesting places.RATING:
