ARBORMON AND PETALDRAMON

HUMANOID: ARBORMON

Oh gosh, YES! It's the successor to Ancienttroiamon! Remember!? The giant horse!? The giant wooden robot horse!? The giant wooden robot horse that's considered a plant digimon?!

Wooden robots are an almost inherently funny concept, but there's also something genuinely cool and fascinating to them, too. Arbormon's design is pretty good for what it is, especially that jagged "mouth" thing on his front and his little, glowing eyes. Apparently he was formed from the data of a wooden karakuri puppet, and he can fire vines from the tubes on his back to manipulate opponents like a marionette! This is our second marionette digimon after Puppetmon, but totally totally different in style, and you really can't compare the two.

BEAST: PETALDRAMON

COMPLETELY different from Arbormon in every way, Petaldramon rejects any mechanical or crafted-looking elements in favor of a fully organic botanical monster, and the result is one of the coolest looking digimon in a very long time. I almost forgot for a second there that digimon could look like this.

I wish more than ever that these beast forms were all Ultimate stage digimon, because Petaldramon would have been the perfect final form for the already somewhat reptilian Palmon line, or Blossomon, or basically any plant type in the canon.

Really, how can you not love a giant lizard with a coconut for a head and thorny red holly leaves for fins and claws? It's just RAD!
