Erlangmon has a lot in common with Takutoumon, introduced in the same game around the same time, this one based on the warrior Erland Shen. This pale blue, white and gold figure is also generally nice looking, and it also comes with a "pet;" a giant, flying, sapient, metal dog head named Kotenken. Its other major ability is a third eye that allows it to see the weaknesses and "wicked hearts" of its opponents.

In blast mode, Erlangmon merges with Kotenken, gaining a big metal dog head for a torso! The third also goes from just a tiny little red gem on its helmet to a spookier red eye, Sauron-esque, that hovers within a large golden metal halo. Its huge phantasmal hair braid also comes undone, and its bladed pole weapon becomes ridiculously huge.
