Shunning the touch of light or exposure to open spaces, these small, translucent, eyeless Arthropoids prefer to remain under detritus or wedged into narrow crevices, where they prey on small invertebrates or feast on vegetable matter.
BASE ORGANISM: like the springtails and Protura, Diplurans are not technically true insects, though they are closely related hexapods and superficially resemble earwigs. Scavenging species possess a pair of soft, sensitive cerci, while predatory Diplura possess strong, sharp, pincer-like cerci.
