PATHOGERM - "Walking Flu"

MACROFORM: The oldest and most common of the Fectoids, over half of the Pathogerm's biomass may be comprised of bacterial cells functioning as "tissues" in a gelatinous matrix, unlike the predominantly eukaryotic makeup the class would ultimately adopt. While it prefers feeding on dead material and especially wheat products, its very touch can infect living tissues with an irritating and toxic bacterial rash, eating away the upper layers of skin and causing intense fever before the monster even takes on its infectious stage.

MICROFORM: A Pathogerm leaves much of the work up to its bacteria as it invades a host body, causing excessive mucus production and persistent, increasingly dangerous sneezing fits, expelling massive volumes of infected phlegm. Under the Fectoid's influence, hosts revel in their own sickness, resist curative measures and enjoy spreading the infection to others.

REPRODUCTION: In its advanced stages, Pathogerm will incubate minute embryos in the lungs and sinuses of the infected, which exit in rubbery "cocoons" of mucus as hosts cough and sneeze. Like nearly all Fectoids, young must grow to full size before they can take on an infectious form, though the fast-growing Pathogerm may mature in only a matter of hours.

PERSONALITY: A Pathogerm loves all things it considers "unclean," and enjoys smearing its excess microbiota wherever it can. Though far too large to be affected by soaps, sanitizers or other cleaning solvents, it finds them repulsive to the point of uncontrollable panic if forcibly bathed.
