POLYPIRE - The Anemone Vampire

CLASS: VAMPIRIC

Coral polyps and anemones demonstrate one of the most extreme vampiric mutations in the animal kingdom, degenerating into a single free-living stinging cell that can grow up to three feet in length. Though relatively small for a vampire, its harpoon-like stinger can spring out several times its own body length to simultaneously deliver a paralyzing venom and pump blood back to its massive, hard-shelled nucleus.

A polypire contracts into an almost perfect sphere when flying, but prefers to unfurl and "slither" when attacking prey. In the wild, Polypire have been observed linking together in a facsimile of a coral colony.
