CLASS: ZOMBIE SPAWN A bizarre result of zombies attempting to breed, the development of a Putrephile is triggered by a genus of social fly closely related to those of the Beeblezug. With their eggs and larvae nestled deep within its body, the biting flies emerge in great swarms from the Putrephile to collect nourishment like a colony of bees, though their diet is hardly limited to plant matter. With their saw-like mouthparts, the flies can collect a substantial amount of blood and flesh for their colony, working it into a rancid brown syrup that some zombies find as sweet as honey.
Bacterial colonies sustained by insect waste build up concentrated gases within the Putrephile's stomach, allowing the monster to awkwardly float. When necessary, thousands of flies may blanket the creature's body and propel it at greater speeds with their collective wings.
