These monsters were invented by a legendary pirate lord as the perfect amphibious crewmen, but eventually turned on their master when their collective power finally exceeded him. Today, they are most often put to work in fish markets and seafood restaurants for their efficiency and ironic value.
Scalamax communicate with one another by the blinking lights along their sides and infrared organs behind their eyes. Their favorite prey are large clams, which they enjoy chopping in half. Extremely flat, they can achieve impressive distance by flinging themselves boomerang-like through the air, using a telekinetic boost to continue flying and spinning for several kilometers.
