Bergmite and Avalugg

The only other ice type introduced this generation (after the dinosaur), Bergmite is a pretty cute little bug-like ice critter with charming yellow and purple eyes under a transparent shell of ice. I appreciate that this seems to be a true "ice monster" rather than a specific cold-related animal or object, which is pretty rare for this typing.

Once again, however, we've got kind of a double-edged evolution. This craggy, perfectly flat-topped reptiloid is a very cool concept and simplistically striking design for an ice creature, but it's a shame we lose every quality Bergmite had going for it. I'd have expected the little thing to evolve almost more spider-like or crab-like, and I really loved that face it had. This feels once again like two unrelated concepts were put together to save space in a smaller generation.
