>Enter the Laboratory
A frigid vapor hissed forth as the door unsealed. The lab was no longer the dank, cramped little workspace it once was in its vestigial state, having expanded into some unfathomably vast chamber of rolling white fog, buzzing white light and the faint echoes of distant equipment. There was little that could faze Fern at this point, or perhaps there were simply few emotions still vigorous enough to breach the sea of anxiety and dread that had long become her baseline. But as a monstrous shape rose from the ghostly fog, she did feel a twinge more nervous than she had about the last few dozen monstrous shapes she has happened upon.
Despite its size, its voice was like an icy whisper inches from her ear.
