ENTRY 037: ABOMINABLE AND LITERAL SNOWMEN

ADULT LEVEL: FRIGIMON

I was always kind of indifferent to this one as a kid, constantly forgetting it existed. It's probably the simplest looking adult stage design in the series even to this day, and I used to just never get into "elemental" monsters. Over the years, though, my appreciation for snowmen has grown exponentially, and it's kind of cute how this is sort of a snow bear. It makes me wish there were more of a traditional snowman child-level, and that this could evolve into a bigger snow creature, like a snow greymon or a snow devimon, retaining that cartoon snow sculpture simplicity.

ADULT LEVEL: MOJYAMON

So, you might think this shaggy yeti would be related in some way by evolution to Frigimon, but alas, both are adult stages, introduced in different virtual pets. I review them together because they're still typically seen in the same environments and they're both creatures we call "snowmen."

Personally, I think it would have been ideal if Frigimon were the Perfect Level evolution of Mojyamon. Maybe some would argue that it should be the other way around, that a snowman should "come to life" into a yeti, but I more like the idea of a yeti becoming one with its element, becoming pure ice and snow.

RATING:

On an additional note, I don't always bother including color variants, but the fact that both of these Digimon have warmer-weather, brown counterparts feels like it ties them together and further justifies this combined review. Mudfrigimon is made of mud, instead of snow, despite retaining "frigi" in its name, while JungleMojyamon is more bigfoot than yeti!
