ENTRY 19: FEAR OF ISOLATION
Another Nightmare today! This one is 2/3 with flying for only two mana, but its only effect is a little drawback to balance out its low cost; to play it, you also have to return something you control back to your hand. This presumably represents the "isolation" it preys upon. Its form is that of a monstrously distorted bird, albatross-like but with the toothed beak of some sort of pterosaur. It has three large, pure white human arms emerging from the pale feathers of its chest, and a number of darker arms with red-stained hands manifesting from its blackish, widely spread wings.
Isolation has the usual bluish, misty human souls of other "fear" creatures, but they pour in two foggy flame-like spurts from its eye sockets, and to emphasize its theme, there's just one tiny face screaming from the pitch darkness inside its gaping beak, easily another of the sickest visuals in the set! The "isolated" face is not only smaller than the other soul heads, but looks more tangible, so is it a more permanent part of the creature? And do all the collected souls simultaneously experience the terror of that "isolation" through the senses of that central head? Or Is that just the latest victim, suffering their fear until they're fully drained of life and added to the bird's eye-vapors??
