POLARBEARMON AND SKADIMON

PERFECT: POLARBEARMON

While Frigimon already had an official yeti-like evolution, Polarbearmon was introduced more recently to be a more aesthetically direct alternative for those who want something on the cuter side, I suppose, which is fine! It's not how I'd have done it, no, and I think maybe fans of polar bears would have preferred something fiercer and more naturalistic, but if "Polarbearmon" is to look like a puffy white hamster going skiing, so be it. It's alright.

ULTIMATE: SKADIMON

The Ultimate level Skadimon, on the other hand, is a fantastic addition to the rather limited selection of iced-themed Ultimates, precisely because it's such a silly and absurd one. It has a round body and stick-thin limbs, especially the black twiggy arms, dressed up like fairy tale royalty with a giant cloud-like frill around its midsection, white pantaloons, cute winter boots that are also deadly ice-bladed skates, blue and purple coattails, oversized colorful gloves, ice-blue bows everywhere and a teeny, tiny little round crown.

It's all very whimsical and stylish, but what matters here is the fact that its head is a snowglobe, occupied by a teeny-tiny little white snowball digimon with little snowball ears, closer in design to first-stage baby Digimon. It's always fun when a Digimon's final form shrinks down small, but I think this is the first time we could actively see it controlling a larger puppet body, or what its bio calls an "exoskeleton" of ice. Very creative, wacky and unique!
