NIGHTMARE MENAGERIE 2020, PART IIIGuest Art by Duckyworth!
The thought of a huge, realistic, upset baby head eating people with fully grown teeth is pretty horrid, but I like that it just felt like a sad disappointment in this dream. Having the "incorrect" emotional response to something seems pretty common in dreams in general.
I hate that the syringes are "greasy." That's worse than even the rustiness or blood stains you usually get on Nightmare Hospital syringes. The setup of these two weird doctors with a crusty old wooden laboratory on a theater stage is so unique, it's almost more distressingly surreal than the doctors themselves.
This is definitely one of my new favorites, and already reads like an excellent story. I would genuinely love to see it expanded into a creepypasta; the off-putting mundanity of a very big woodpecker as an antagonist, the strangeness of a child getting blamed for a woodpecker's activities and the overall progression of the narrative all carries surprising amounts of dread. Of the two possible endings, I definitely prefer the subtler one with the bird's dead body in the wall. Could it have been dead all along??
